2003 Peace through Pride

Celebrating diversity for over 33 years

The day began as many had that spring: overcast and rainy. But when Pride stepped off, the sun came out. In reaction to the Iraq War, several contingents in the March made anti-war statements. Two participants reenacted John Lennon’s and Yoko Ono’s 1969 bed-in to protest the war.[1]

First this year: The Parade Simulcast on Jumb-Tron at the Boston Common.

Grand Marshal:  The Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (GLAD)
Parade Marshals: Dr. James Bonanno and Dr. Nance Norman from Fenway Community Health Center and Gunner Scott a community activist.
